As of June 19, 2015, Boulder Dog Food Company located in Boulder, Colorado has announced a recall of their Dog Food product: Chicken Sprinkles Food Enhancer, due to a possible Salmonella contamination. The products were fortunately only distributed on a small scale to two stores in Colorado, one store in Washington state, and one customer in Maryland, and were labeled with the “Best By” date of 5/04/16.
Salmonella contamination can have severe health effects, and threatens both humans and animals. Those mainly at risk are young children, the elderly, pregnant women, or those with weak immune systems. Take caution by washing hands frequently, and disinfecting anything came in contact with the product.
Symptoms of salmonella bacteria include: lethargy, diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramping, vomiting, decrease of appetite, abdominal pain, and can incur other serious results such as arthritis, and urinary tract symptoms.
