As of January 30th, 2015 the pet food company Grill-Phoria officially recalled one of the dog treat products because of a potential salmonella contamination.
Big Bark All Natural Beef Jerky Treats for Dogs, was manufactured in 3.5 ounce pouches, and distributed in the regions of Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Oklahoma between the months of September 2014-January 2015.
Salmonella is problematic not only for animals, but can infect humans too. The main groups at risk are young children, the elderly, pregnant women, or those with weak immune systems. Guard against contamination by washing hands frequently, and disinfecting any tool or surface that came in contact with the product.
Symptoms of salmonella bacteria include: lethargy, diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramping, vomiting, decrease of appetite, abdominal pain, and can incur other serious results such as arthritis, and urinary tract symptoms.
