As of April 22nd 2015, the FDA announced that Nylabone Products of Neptune, New Jersey have officially recalled one of their products because of a potential Salmonella bacteria contamination. Nylabone’s Puppy Starter Kit Chews were distributed from one facility to all regions of North America. The recalled product indicates an expiration date of 3/22/18 on the back of the package.
Symptoms of salmonella bacteria include: lethargy, diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramping, vomiting, decrease of appetite, abdominal pain, and can also include such as arthritis, and urinary tract symptoms.
Salmonella is dangerous for both animals and humans; particularly for young children, the elderly, pregnant women, or those with weak immune systems. Avoid contamination by washing hands frequently, and disinfecting anything came in contact with the product.
